A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN APPLICATION
FOR GRANT AND LOAN PROGRAMS FUNDED BY THE CENTENNIAL
CLEAN WATER FUND AND THE STATE REVOLVING FUND
Whereas,
The City and the state Department of Ecology are
currently parties to an agreement regarding an interest-
free, five-year loan from the State Revolving Fund to
assist the City in funding a wetlands preservation
project involving land acquisitions from numerous owners
in the Northwest area of the City; and
Whereas,
The agreement concerns land purchases in a portion of
what is now known to be a series of wetlands linked by
natural drainage corridors; and
Whereas,
It would be consistent with the City's strategy of
conserving natural systems for stormwater control and
treatment to expand the area targeted for .land
acquisitions; and
Whereas,
The Department of Ecology is now accepting joint
applications for funding certain types of projects using
Centennial Clean Water Fund grants and State Revolving
Fund loans,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign an application to the
Department of Ecology regarding grant and'loan programs funded by
the Centennial Clean Water Fund and the State Revolving Fund for
the purpose of. providing additional support for land acquisitions
in the Northwest area of the City related to water quality
improvement and protection.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed
by the Mayor this 20th day of February, 1996.
