A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO BEGIN NEGOTIATIONS
WITH AMERICAN LEGION POST N0.26 REGARDING THE ACQUISITION
OF AN EASEMENT FOR A SEWER LINE TO BE CONSTRUCTED WITHIN
REAL PROPERTY ADJACENT TO CITY HALL
Whereas,
A serious problem has arisen with an existing sewer line
connecting City Hall, which is situated within Lot 7 of
Block 44 of the Original Townsite of Port Townsend, to a
sanitary sewer main in Water Street; and
Whereas,
The Public Works Department has determined that, due to the
fact that City Hall fully occupies the lot within which it
is situated, the only feasible solution to the problem will
require the construction of a new sewer line that can only
be routed through a lot abutting the City Hall property; and
Whereas,
Lot 5 of said Block 44 abuts the City Hall property to the
Northeast and is owned by American Legion Post No. 26,
N 0 W T H E R E F 0 R E
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that
it authorizes the Mayor to begin negotiations with American Legion Post
No. 26 regarding the acquisition of an easement for the construction,
maintenance, repair, and replacement of a sewer line to connect City
Hall to a sanitary sewer main in Water Street.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by
the Mayor this 20th day of February, 1996.
