A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN CHANGE ORDER #1 FOR $31,185.00 AND
TO DIRECT STAFF TO SETTLE FUTURE CHANGE ORDERS UP TO $6,000.00 FOR
ANY SINGLE CHANGE, AND UP TO A TOTAL $30,000.00 FOR ALL CHANGES
COMBINED, TO THE UNION WHARF RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT CONTRACT.
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are a necessary and common occurrence on large construction
projects such as the Union Wharf Reconstruction Project and as such have been
included as 5% of the project budget; and
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negOtiation and agreement by the City and the Contractor, Hurlen ConstruCtion
Company; and
WHEREAS,
The Union Wharf Advisory Committee and Staff recommends it desirable to add
bulkhead improvements as also described as Altemate #5 to the Union Wharf
Reconstruction Project Contract; and
WHEREAS, The City wishes to expedite negotiations and finalizing of necessary Change
Orders,
NOW THEREFORE
Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does hereby authorize the
Mayor to sign Change Order No. 1 in substantially the same form as attached for $31,185.00
and to direct Staff to administratively handle future Change Orders up to $6,000.00 for any
single change, and up to $30,000.00 total for all changes combined, to the Union Wharf
Reconstruction Project Contract with Hurlen Construction Company.
