A RESOLUTION adopting a Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy
for Employees of the City of Port Townsend who Operate
Commercial Vehicles.
WHEREAS, December 19, 1994, the City Council adopted in Resolution 94-141 a policy for a
Drug-Free Workplace; and
WHEREAS, regulations issued by the United States Department of Transportation mandate drug
and alcohol testing for employees in safety-sensitive positions, including those who are required to
hold a Commercial Driver's License; and
WItEREAS, the City has joined the Drug and Alcohol Testing Consortium of the Association of
Washington Cities for assistance in properly implementing the neW regulations; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the Drug and Alcohol
Testing Policy for Employees who Operate Commercial Vehicles, attached hereto as Exhibit A, is
hereby adopted as City Policy and shall be made a part of the City of Port Townsend Personnel
Policy Manual.
