A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND APPROVING AN
AGREEMENT WITH KITSAP COUNTY FOR ACCEPTANCE AND BENEFICIAL
USE OF BIOSOLIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE
AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY

and
WHEREAS, the City operates a biosolids facility which processes and recycles sewage
yard waste, and other materials for reuse as domestic and commercial compost material;
WHEREAS, the City has the capacity in its biosolids facility to handle sewage sludge
materials in excess of the waste stream generated from the City's domestic wastewater system; and
WHEREAS, with additional sewage sludge, the City's biosolids facility should be able
to produce additional yard compost materials for sale to the City's customers and for use by the
City's Parks Department; and
WHEREAS, Kitsap County is in need of a facility tO accept and handle its sewage sludge
waste materials and is prepared to pay the City compensation in the amount stated in the attached
Agreement for accepting Kitsap County's sewage sludge,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend resolves as follows:
The proposed Agreement Between Port Townsend and Kitsap County for Biosolids
Beneficial Use, attached hereto, is approved. The Mayor is authorized to sign the Agreement in
substantially the form attached.
ADOPTED this 6th day of May, 1996.
