A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO SETTLE CHANGE ORDERS
FOR UP TO $5,000 FOR A SINGLE CHANGE, OR $25,000 FOR SEVERAL CHANGES
COMBINED, FOR CONSTRUCTION COSTS FOR THE SAN JUAN AVENUE
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and regular occurrence on a large construction
projects such as the San Juan Avenue Improvements Project; and
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and signatures by the City, the Engineer (Perteet Engineering), and the'
Contractor (Lakeside Industries, Inc).
WHEREAS, the City wishes to expedite negotiations and finalizing of necessary Change
Orders;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does hereby authorize the
Public Works Director to settle Change Orders for up to $5,000 each, or $25,000 in the aggregate
for several changes included in one Change Order. Total Change Orders shall not exceed 5% of
the total construction bid without further authorization by Council.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 3rd
day of June 1996. '
