A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND TO
ADOPT THE GENERAL RECORDS RETENTION SCHEDULE AND DESTRUCTION
AUTHORIZATION AS APPROVED BY THE WASHINGTON SECRETARY OF
STATE DIVISION OF ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS,
the Secretary of the State of Washington Division of Archives and Records
Management has developed general schedules for retention of public records for
Cities and Towns; and
WHEREAS, authority for retemion and destruction of records is based in RCW 40.14.070; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has a need to use the schedule to control retention and
destruction of City records;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
Be It Resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend hereby adopts the attached
General Records Retention Schedule as approved by the Washington State Secretary of State
Division of Archives and Records Management as appropriate for use by City staff.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, and signed by the Mayor this
17th day of June 1996.
