A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN CHANGE ORDER #8 FOR AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $66,400.00 TO THE UNION WHARF RECONSTRUCTION
PROJECT CONTRACT WITH HURLEN CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and common occurrence on large construction
projects such as Union Wharf; and
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and agreement by the City and the Contractor, Hurlen Construction
Company; and
WHEREAS, Potentially hazardous conditions of the sidewalks were discovered during
construction; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the budget to accommodate these changes;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
Be It Resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend authorizes the Mayor to sign
Change Order #8 for an amount not to exceed $66,400.00 to the Union Wharf Reconstruction
Project contract with Hurlen Construction Company to replace the crumbling wall cap and
deteriorating sidewalk panels.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, and signed by the Mayor this 21st
day of October, 1996.
