A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN CHANGE ORDER #9 FOR AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $103,000.00 TO THE UNION WHARF RECONSTRUCTION
PROJECT CONTRACT WITH HURLEN CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and common occurrence on large construction
projects such as Union Wharf; and
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and agreement by the City and the Contractor, Hurlen Construction
Company; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources has agreed to increase the ALEA grant for
Union Wharf Reconstruction by 103,000.00; and
WHEREAS, with this amendment to the grant there will be sufficient funds in the budget to
accommodate these changes;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
Be It Resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend authorizes the Mayor to sign
Change Order g9 for an amount not to exceed $103,000.00 to the Union Wharf Reconstruction
Project contract with Hurlen Construction Company to add the bid alternate for the shelter on
Union Wharf.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, and signed by the Mayor this 2nd
day of December, 1996.
