A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO SETTLE CHANGE ORDERS FOR
UP TO $5,000 FOR A SINGLE CHANGE, OR $15,000 FOR SEVERAL
CHANGES COMBINED, FOR CONSTRUCTION COSTS FOR THE NEW
PRODUCTION WELL IN THE TRI-AREA.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and regular occurrence on construction projects;
and
WHEREAS, Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and signatures by the City, the Engineer (CH2M HILL), and the
Contractor (Tacoma Pump & Drilling Co., Inc.).
WHEREAS, The City wishes to expedite negotiations and finalizing of necessary Change
Orders,
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does hereby authorize staff
to settle Change Orders for up to $5,000 each, or $15,000 in the aggregate for several changes
included in one Change Order. Total Change Orders shall not exceed 5 % of the total construction
bid without further authorization by Council.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 16th
day of December, 1996.
