HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-041RESOLUTION #97- '~[ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN TWO WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TRANSAID FUNDING AGREEMENTS TO ACCEPT A TOTAL OF $51,225.00 IN GRANT FUNDING TO CONSTRUCT STUDENT PEDESTRIAN SAFETY PROJECTS. WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, it has been identified by Staff, Council and Citizen Advisory Groups that improvements for streets near the local elementary schools to enhance bicycle and pedestrian safety are desirable, and the City of Port Townsend has limited financial resources with which to upgrade streets within the City for vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic; and funds for improvements to Walker Street near the Mountain View Elementary School and to Sherdian near the Grant Street Elementary School are available through Washington State Department of Transportation TransAid Oil Rebate Funds for Student Pedestrian Safety Projects grants, N O W T H E R E F O R E Be It Resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend authorizes the Mayor to sign Washington State Department of Transportation TransAid Funding Agreements to accept $15,625.00 in grant funds for Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety improvements to Walker Street and $35,600.00 for improvements to Sheridan Streets. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, and signed by the Mayor this 7th day of April, 1997.
