A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A
LOW-INTEREST LOAN THROUGH THE PUBLIC WORKS TRUST FUND FOR A
WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City loses revenue due to old water meters that are inaccurate; and
WHEREAS, the City could recover this revenue through meter replacement by usage that is
reflected on customer bills and savings in staff time reading the meters; and
WHEREAS, the City would need to replace 3,700 meters and upgrade an additional 1,605
meters; and
the City does not have the sufficient funds to accomplish this project; and
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
the Public WorksTrust Fund provides low interest loans to fund projects such as
these.
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that it authorizes the Mayor
to submit loan applications to the Public Works Trust Fund for a water meter replacement program.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 7th day
of April, 1997.
