HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-057RESOLUTION NO. 97- 5"7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY WHEREAS, from time to time, the City of Port Townsend has certain properties which are deemed surplus to the City's needs; and WHEREAS, the City Council will be asked to declare these properties as surplus and direct staff to make proper disposal of these properties; and WHEREAS, Jefferson County will be conducting a surplus property sale for the disposal of its surplus properties; and WHEREAS, it is more cost effective for the City to participate in the County conducted sale than to conduct its own; and WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into an interlocal agreement with the County which will allow the City to include the City's surplus property in its sale; NOW THEREFORE Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that it authorizes the Mayor to sign an interlocal agreement with Jefferson County to provide for the City's participation in the County's surplus property sale to be conducted on June 28, 1997. And be it further resolved that prior to any sale, the City Council shall approve, by resolution, all items deemed to be surplus and that if any items exceed an estimated fair market value of $5,000, the Council will hold a public hearing before approving the disposal of those items.
