RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY AND PORT TOWNSEND MARINE SCIENCE CENTER TO EXTEND
THEIR PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONSULTANT AGREEMENT FOR ONE
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, resolves as follows:
WHEREAS, as part of Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) Centennial
Clean Water Act ("CCW') Grant, the City was awarded funds (Contract G9200331) in
conjunction with the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, to study effects of water quality
on near-shore marine habitat and to increase public awareness of these effects; and
WHEREAS, on January 3, 1994, the City Council passed Resolution 94-04, granting
the Agreement between the City and the Port Townsend Marine Science Center; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement provides for an extension at the discretion of the City for
a reasonable period of time, and the City and Consultant desire to extend the 1994 Agreement
for one year, effective July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998; and
WHEIIEAS, the DOE has authorized an extension provision of grant funds under the
CCWF program for an additional year, through June 30, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a one-year extension is appropriate and
constitutes a reasonable period of time,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to sign the "Agreement to Extend Professional
Service/Consultant Agreement for One Year," including Attachments 1 and 2 in substantially
the same form as attached.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor
on this 18th day of August, 1997.
