RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AND CLALLAM
COUNTY FOR CANINE NARCOTICS SEARCH USE
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, resolves as follows:
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Police Department requires the assistance of a trained
narcotics detection team including canine and handler on an irregular basis; and
WHEREAS, the Clallam County Sheriff's Office, at its convenience, has agreed to
provide use of a trained narcotics detection canine and handler for general public safety
purposes within the city limits of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, the Clallam County Sheriff's Office will provide documentation and
expert witness testimony by the narcotics detection canine handler for successful prosecution of
criminal charges resulting from activity within the City of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, the narcotics detection team consists of commissioned officers of Clallam
County Sheriff's Office who meet required training qualifications;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to sign the Memorandum of Agreement in substantially
the form as attached hereto.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor
on this 1st day of December, 1997.
