RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECIYrE A CONTRACT WITH BALLENAS,
INC., FOR TENANT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE WATERMAN-KATZ BUILDING,
COMMENCING APRIL 7, 1998 AND TERMINATING JUNE 1, 1998 (EXCEPT FOR
ONGOING WORK AND WARRANTIES) IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,118
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, resolves as follows:
WHEREAS, the City desires to contract with Ballenas, Inc. for completion of tenant
improvements within the City's proposed leased space in the Waterman-Katz Building; and
WHEREAS, the City requested written proposals from six contractors listed on the City's
"Small Works Roster." In conformance with Washington law, Ballenas, Inc. submitted the lowest
responsive, responsible proposal for the proposed tenant improvement work. Ballenas, Inc., is
a qualified contractor under the Small Works Roster, pursuant to City of Port Townsend
Resolution No. 95-93, Section II, subpart B "Contracts From $20,000/$30,000 to $100,000;' and
WHEREAS, the Contract price is $50,118.00,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to execute the Contract with Ballenas, Inc., in substantially
the form attached to this resolution, in particular, the Contract between the parties and attached
plans and spo~ifications, and project quote; provided, however, that this Contract is awarded
contingent upon the City and Ballenas completing negotiation of a Lease for the leased space, as
confirmed through formal adoption and approval by the Port Townsend City Council by Council
Resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor
on this 24th day of March, 1998.
