RESOLUTION NO. 23-038
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, RENAMING TRIANGLE III PARK AS SPEAKERS' CORNER
WHEREAS, Triangle III park is a pocket park that is adjacent to the Kearney Street and
Highway 20/Sims Way intersection; and,
WHEREAS, Triangle III park has served as an unofficial gathering space for protests,
campaigns, celebrations, and other outdoor events and demonstrations; and,
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreations, Trees, and Trails Advisory Board unanimously
recommended that Triangle III be renamed Speakers' Corner to reflect its role in the community; and
WHEREAS, two other triangle parks in Port Townsend have more specific names: Dahlia
Demonstration Garden or Master Gardeners Park and Gateway Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that Triangle III park will be renamed Speakers' Corner.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 201" day of June 2023.
