RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN ADDENDUM EXTENDING THE
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONSULTANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY
AND PORT TOWNSEND MARINE SCIENCE CENTER FOR ONE YEAR, FROM
JULY 1, 1998 TO JUNE 30, 1999
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, as part of Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) Centennial Clean
Water Act ("CCW") Grant, the City was awarded funds under Contract G9200331 (Habitat
Utilization/Water Quality Study Project) to study effects of water quality on near-shore marine
habitat and to increase public awareness of these effects; and
WHEREAS, on January 3, 1994, by Resolution 94-04, the City Council approved and
authorized the Agreement between the City and Port Townsend Marine Science Center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution 97-95 on August 18, 1997, extending
the 1994 Agreement for one year from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998; and
WH~REAS, by Letter Amendment to the Mayor dated June 10, 1998, the Department
of Ecology authorized an additional extension of grant funds under the CCWF program for one
year through June 30, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a one-year extension from July 1, 1998 to
June 30, 1999 is appropriate and constitutes a reasonable period of time,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to approve a second one-year extension period of the 1994
Agreement in the attached "Addendum to Amended Agreement to Extend Professional
Service/Consultant Agreement for One Year," in substantially the form as attached to this
resolution from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor
on this 20th day of July, 1998.
