RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SERVICES
WITH SKY RESOURCES, INC., FOR EMPLOYMENT OF AN INTERIM POLICE
CHIEF
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the City's Police Chief resigned from employment with the City effective
April 6, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City recently completed a recruiting and interviewing process to hire a
new Police Chief, which process was unsuccessful in hiring a candidate meeting the City's needs;
and
WHEREAS, current Police Department personnel resources are inadequate to provide
adequate patrol coverage in addition to serving Department management and administration needs;
and
WItEREAS, SKY Resources, Inc. ("Contractor") has agreed to provide, as its employee,
an Interim Police Chief to the City pending hiring of a permanent police chief; and
WItEREAS, the Interim Police Chief will be available to commence service in Port
Townsend on Monday, August 24, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to utilize SKY Resources as an independent entity to
accomplish the City's objectives and goals to provide an Interim Police Chief for the City's Police
Department, in accordance with the attached Agreement; and
WBq~lg)~, the City has investigated the qualifications of SKY Resources, Inc., and finds
that the Contractor is qualified to perform the services required,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL~, by the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to sign the Contract for Services between the City and
SKY Resources, Inc., in substantially the form attached to this resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed bY the Mayor
on this 17th day of August, 1998.
