ORDINANCE NO. 3307
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, RELATED
TO CITY MUNICIPAL OFFICE HOURS AND AMENDING PORT TOWNSEND
MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.20.010
WHEREAS, during the Covid-19 pandemic, many City processes became virtual which
allowed the City to continue to serve customers without face-to-face interactions; and
WHEREAS, the City continues to offer virtual services which means fewer residents
coming in person to City offices; and
WHEREAS, the City has temporarily closed City offices on Fridays as a pilot program
to gauge the City's ability to maintain a high-level of customer service while allowing City staff
uninterrupted project time; and
WHEREAS, City staff found that the Friday closures benefitted staff who continued to
provide excellent customer service.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as
follows:
Section 1. Amendment. Section 2.20.010 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is
amended as set forth below:
2.20.010 Hours.
All municipal offices of the city, gN, Judi„iig theuul�ort_ i owti end,lctty Itbrw ,l„fie, shall generally
remain open and available to the public between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Mondays
through ays "l"'hurs, excepting the holidays listed in PTMC 2.20.020; provided, however,
that the city manager shall have the authority to adjust hours of availability for departments as
special circumstances warrant and temporarily close city offices for special and emergency

Section 2. Severability. If any sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should be held
to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or
unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence,
clause or phrase or work of this ordinance.
Section” 1. Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary in Chapter 1.01.015 of the
Port Townsend Municipal Code, staff and the Code Reviser are authorized to update and
incorporate changes adopted in the Port Townsend Municipal Code. Staff and the Code Reviser
are further authorized to make non -substantive edits related to numbering, grammar, spelling,
and formatting consistent with this Ordinance.

Section 4. Effective Date, This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after
the date of its publication in the manner provided by law. Publication of this ordinance shall be
by summary thereof consisting of the title.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular
meeting thereof, held this 20'h day of March 2023.
