HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-019 Authorizing the Changes to the City's Salary Classification Schedule and the Union Wage Scale and Authorizing the Filling of one Position in the City Parks and Maintenance Divison of Public Works within the Available Job ClassificationsResolution 23-019 RESOLUTION NO. 23-019 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CHANGES TO THE CITY'S SALARY CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULE AND THE UNION WAGE SCALE AND AUTHORIZING THE FILLING OF ONE POSITION IN THE CITY PARKS AND MAINTENANCE DIVISION OF PUBLIC WORKS WITHIN THE AVAILABLE JOB CLASSIFICATIONS WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend is continuously working towards having a fully and appropriately staffed Parks and Facilities Division of Public Works; and WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend works to ensure the continued maintenance of the City parks; and WHEREAS, the new positions need to be included in the Teamsters Local 589 General Government salary schedule; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Maintenance Division of Public Works has one vacancy in a difficult recruiting environment; and WHEREAS, the City staff seeks flexibility in recruiting for the open position in the Parks and Maintenance Division of Public Works due to the labor market; and WHEREAS, the City is seeking opportunities to increase efficiency, succession planning, engagement, retention and sustainability; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend to authorize the City Manager to modify the City's salary classifications and union wage scale as shown in Exhibit A and to complete job descriptions for the new or modified positions. The City Manager is further authorized to fill one position in the Parks and Facilities Division in any three of the following job classifications depending on the successful applicants' qualifications: Parks Apprentice Maintenance Worker, Parks Maintenance Worker I, Parks Maintenance Worker II, Parks Maintenance Worker III, Crew Chief Apprentice — Parks, or Crew Chief Parks. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Te; •end at a regular meeting thereof, held this 61" day of March 2023.
