RESOLUTION NO. 22-047
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE
WITH THE JEFFERSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR HISTORIC CITY
HALL SPACE
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has leased space in Historic City Hall to the
Jefferson County Historical Society for a museum and office space for eighteen years; and
WHEREAS, in 2021,the City and the Historical Society agreed to a one year extension
to the fifteen year lease that expired; and
WHEREAS, City staff worked with the Historical Society to negotiate a new fifteen year
lease with additional fifteen year terms; and
WHEREAS, the City's consideration for the lease is the public benefit of the museum
operated in the space and any upgrades to the space at the Historical Society's expense;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to execute a fifteen year lease with the Jefferson
County Historical Society for Historic City Hall space.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting thereof,
held this 5th day of December 2022.
