HomeMy WebLinkAbout98-133Resolution No. 133 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE PORT TOWNSEND SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND RECYCLING CONTRACT WITH SUPERIOR REFUSE REMOVAL, INC., ADOPTING CONTRACT RATES FOR COMPACTED SOLID WASTE DEPOSITED IN DUMPSTERS The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, in 1997, the City of Port Townsend negotiated a five-year contract with Superior Refuse Removal, Inc. for SOlid waste and recycling collection services beginning January 1, 1998 through December 31, 2002, and adopted by Resolution 97-124; and WHEREAS, in Ordinance No. 2675, adopted December 21, 1998, the City Council adopted a rate multiplier for compacted solid waste deposited in dumpsters, amending sections of the Port Townsend Municipal code concerning mandatory customer participation in the collection program. All findings of Ordinance No. 2675 are incorporated herein by this reference; and WItEREAS, the City and Superior have negotiated a mutually advantageous amendment to the Contract to adopt rates payable to Superior for collection of compacted solid waste deposited in dumpsters, and making other minor amendments. Upon the unanimous recommendation of the City Council's Utilities Committee, the Port Townsend City Council has accepted the negotiated Contract Amendment, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Port Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to sign the First Amendment to the Contract with Superior Refuse Removal in substantially the form as attached to this resolution. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor on this 21st day of December, 1998.
