HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-035 Authorizing the City Manager to Execute All Necessary Contracts to Repair the June 5, 2022 Storm Damage in an Amount not to Exceed $100,000Resolution 22-035 Page I of 2 RESOLUTION NO. 22-035 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY CONTRACTS TO REPAIR THE JUNE 5, 2022 STORM DAMAGE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $100,000 WHEREAS, on June 5, 2022, a twenty-five year storm event resulted in 2.05 inches of rain falling on Port Townsend in a twenty-four hour period; and WHEREAS, this storm damaged City infrastructure with most of the damage in the eastern part of the City; and WHEREAS, two areas of the city require significant restoration work: Walnut Street between T Street and V Street and the Logan Street stormwater pond outfall; and WHEREAS, Walnut Street requires new pavement and the installation of a wedge curb; and WHEREAS, the Logan Street stormwater pond will have a pipe installed to move stormwater to the lower drainage way without eroding the side of the canyon; and WHEREAS, the stormwater utility fund has adequate reserves to cover this type of damage caused from an extreme storm event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to execute all necessary contracts to repair the June 5, 0222 storm damage in an amount not to exceed $100,000.
