RESOLUTION NO. 22-026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, APPROVING THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND WATER SYSTEM CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of a water purveyor to provide water to the customer at
the meter that meets Washington state water quality standards; and
WHEREAS, it is the water purveyor's responsibility to prevent the contamination of the
public water system from the source of supply (i.e., to the customer's connection to the service pipe
or meter); and
WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) for
the Purveyor to establish a cross connection -control program satisfactory to DOH; and
WHEREAS, cross -connections within the customer's plumbing system pose a potential
source for the contamination of the public water supply system; and
WHEREAS, cross -connections are prohibited in Chapter 13.17 Port Townsend Municipal
Code; and
WHEREAS, the DOH has reviewed and approved this cross connection control program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager approves the City of Port Townsend water system
Cross Connection Control Program and minor amendments hereafter necessary to maintain
compliance with DOH requirements.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 6th day of June 2022.,
