INTERIM ORDINANCE
AMENDING TIME LIMITATIONS FOR
TEMPORARY TENT ENCAMPMENTS
The Port Townsend City Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, June 6, 2022,
at or about 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, 540 Water Street, Port Townsend, WA, to
accept public testimony on Ordinance 3291 Amending Port Townsend Municipal Code
Section 17.60.060 Time Limitations for Temporary Uses and Interim Land Use
Regulations for Temporary Tent Encampments and Providing that the Interim
Regulations, Unless Extended, Will Sunset on the Earlier of Six (6) Months from the
Date of Adoption of this Ordinance or the Adoption of Regulations that Supersede this
Ordinance. For existing permitted Temporary Tent Encampments, the proposed
amendments would allow the Development Services Director to grant two extensions
not to exceed 180 days each upon the applicant showing compliance with all conditions
of permit approval. Persons wishing to testify to the City Council may do so either by
submitting oral testimony during the public hearing, or by submitting written comments
to the City Clerk, 250 Madison Street, Suite 2, Port Townsend, WA 98368. Written
comments must be received by the close of the public hearing on June 6, 2022.
Ordinance 3291 is available for inspection in the City Clerkâs office on the second floor
of City Hall.
