HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-023 Authorizing the City Manager to Apply for Pedestrian and Bicycle Program Grant and a Safe Routes to School GrantResolution 22-023 RESOLUTION NO. 22-023 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PROGRAM GRANT AND A SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANT WHEREAS, Washington state is accepting grant applications for both the Pedestrian Bicycle Program and Safe Routes to School grants; and WHEREAS, City staff have identified projects that will be competitive for both grant programs and placed them in tiers based on their likely success; and WHEREAS, the deadline for the Pedestrian Bicycle Program grant is May 30, 2022; and WHEREAS, the Safe Routes to School grant deadline is June 6, 2022; and WHEREAS, both programs prioritize projects that increase safety and efficiency of non - motorized transportation options; and WHEREAS, the City Parks, Recreation, Tree, and Trail Advisory Board reviewed the projects and recommended applications for the Sims Way project between Logan and Hancock as well as the Hastings project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, that the City Manager is authorized to apply for a Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program grant and a Safe Routes to School grant.
