A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE IIAYOR TO SIGN Alq AGREEMENT
WITH ROGER W. EV~NS AND JON D. EVANS REGARDING AN
EXCHI~NGE OF LAND O~IED BY THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND FOR
A FORESTED STRIP OF LANDAD~ACENTTO HIGH~AY 20/SIMS WAY,
AND AUTHORIZING THE CLERK/TREASURER TO ISSUE THE WARRANTS
NECESSi~RY TO COMPLETE THE EXCHANGE.
Whereas,

Roger W. Evans and Jon D. Evans are the owners of real
property adjacent to Highway 20/Sims Way as it enters the
City of Port Townsend; and
Said property owners wish to exchange a strip of forested
land 100 feet in width and approximately 1/4 of a mile in
length adjacent to the South boundary of the right-of-way
of said highway for 5 acres of land owned by the City
which is adjacent to the property of said owners; and
Said property owners wish to ~make a gift to the City of
any difference in the values of the properties to be
exchanged, it having been determined by appraisals that
the value of the strip adjacent to the highway to be
exchanged by said owners exceeds the value of the land
they will receive from the City; and
The preservation of a forested strip along this portion
of Highway 20/Sims Way is an objective of the Gateway
Plan adopted by the City; and
The exchange, as proposed by Roger W. Evans and Jon D.
Evans, will achieve an objective of the Gateway Plan with
no cash outlay on the part of the City, other than for
expenses incidental to the completion of the exchange;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign an agreement with Roger W.
Evans and Jon D. Evans regarding the exchange of 5 acres of land
owned by the City for a strip of forested land along Highway
20/Sims Way as it enters the City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to
issue the warrants which may be required to complete such exchange.
