RESOLUTION NO. 22-013
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A HIGHWAY
SAFETY IMPROVEMENT GRANT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend completed a Local Road Safety Plan in January
2022; and
WHEREAS, the Washington Department of Transportation is accepting grant applications
for highway safety improvement grants consistent with local road safety plans through March 4,
2022; and
WHEREAS, City staff has identified three projects that are competitive for grant funding;
and
WHEREAS, one project involves pedestrian and bicycle improvements on Sheridan and
Discovery Roads; and
WHEREAS, a second project would fund a 19th Street corridor safety study; and
WHEREAS, the final project would focus on pedestrian improvements on San Juan
Avenue, Spruce Street, Admiralty Avenue;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, that the City Manager is authorized to apply for a highway safety
improvement grant.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 22nd day of February 2022.
