RESOLUTION NO. 22-012
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH WILLAMETTE CULTURAL RESOURCES ASSOCIATES TO
PERFORM A CULTURAL RESOURCES SURVEY IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$20,000
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend purchased an Evans Vista property using a
Washington State Department of Commerce grant; and
WHEREAS, the property may have contained a quarantine location in the late 1800s and
therefore may contain cultural resources or human remains; and
WHEREAS, the purchase price included $125,000 in escrow as a contingency fund if the
property contains human remains; and
WHEREAS, the escrow expires one calendar year from the closing and so Staff
recommends an agreement with Willamette Cultural Resources Associates to conduct a cultural
resources survey of the Evans Vista property to determine if the property contains human remains
or cultural resources;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, that the City Manager is authorized to execute an Agreement with
Willamette Cultural Resources Associates to conduct cultural resources survey in an amount not to
exceed $20,000.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 22,d day of February 2022.
