HomeMy WebLinkAbout021422 CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP OF FEBRUARY 14, 2022 CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL The Port Townsend City Council met in workshop session on the 14th day of February 2022 in Council Chambers at 540 Water Street. Mayor David Faber called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Councilmembers present at roll call were Aislinn Diamanti, David Faber, Amy Howard, Monica MickHager, Owen Rowe, Ben Thomas, and Libby Wennstrom. Staff members present were City Manager John Mauro, City Attorney Heidi Greenwood, Public Works Director Steve King, Finance Director Nora Mitchell, Library Director Melody Sky Weaver, Police Chief Tom Olson, Planning Manager Judy Surber, Director of People and Performance Pamela Martinez, and City Clerk Joanna Sanders. DISCUSSION ITEMS Suggestion Board City Manager John Mauro noted this item is a carryover from the January workshop meeting. City Attorney Heidi Greenwood reviewed the Suggestion Board process, the four new items, and those items tabled from Council's review in November. In response to a question about the dog park structure, Public Works Director Steve King noted that the desire is for a more permanent structure. Possibly a tent could be put in place. Some discussion ensued about how a resident makes a recommendation for how items get on the list. It was noted that items Council would like to see be added to the the document be mentioned under the agenda item titled Suggestions for the Next or Future Agendas. Council would then discuss and decide during its quarterly review what has arisen to a priority to add to the work plan. There was interest in the document being publicly available on the website. Public Comment: Anna Molotsky of Port Townsend Students for Sustainability asked to add the Idling Ban be added to the City's work plan. 2022 Workplan City Manager John Mauro noted this item was carried over from last month's meeting. Department Directors reviewed work plan priorities as follows: Heidi Greenwood on City Attorney/Clerk, Planning Manager Judy Surber on Development Services and Planning, Finance and Administrative Services Director Nora Mitchell for Finance and City Council Workshop Meeting February 14, 2022 Page 1 of 2 Information and Technology, Pamela Martinez for People and Performance, Tom Olson for Police, Public Works by Steve King, and Library Director Melody Weaver for the Library. There was no public comment. Public Engagement 2022 John Mauro gave a verbal briefing of public engagement. Council also suggested continuing to use the City utility newsletter to communicate on topics discussed tonight, including having guest spots in the City newsletter by new Councilmembers. There was no public comment.
