RESOLUTION NO. 21-082
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT
AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
FOR A PROPERTY PURCHASE TO SUPPORT AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN PORT
TOWNSEND
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Commerce awarded the City of Port
Townsend $1,372,000 to purchase property for affordable, workforce, and mixed income housing;
and
WHEREAS, the grant agreement requires that the City give the Department of Commerce
a ten-year deed of trust to ensure that the property is used for affordable, workforce, and mixed
income housing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute a purchase and sale
agreement for property on Evans Vista contingent on City Council final approval; and
WHEREAS, the City executed a purchase and sale agreement, contingent on City Council
approval, for the property on Evans Vista on August 24, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the City contracted with WillamettteCRA to perform a culture resources
survey on the Evans Vista property; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Commerce grant will cover the majority of the Evans Vista
purchase price;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized to execute a grant agreement with the
Washington State Department of Commerce for a property purchase to support affordable housing
in Port Townsend.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a special business
meeting thereof, held this 13th day of December 2021.
