HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-063 Fixing the Time for Hearing on a Petition to Vacate a Portion of Adams Street and Concurrent City Initiated Vacation for Portions of Reed Street Resolution 21-063 RESOLUTION NO. 21-063 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND FIXING THE TIME FOR HEARING ON A PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF ADAMS STREET AND CONCURRENT CITY INITIATED VACATION FOR PORTIONS OF REED STREET BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend as follows: The Port Townsend City Council shall conduct a public hearing on a Street Vacation petition by Larry Johnson (LUP20-068) to vacate a portion of Adams Street and a City initiated vacation for a portion of Reed Street (Exhibit A). The proposal, if approved, would vacate the westerly half of Adams Street abutting Lot 1, Block 25 of the Mountain View Second Addition; the City initiated vacation would vacate a 30 foot x 60 foot section of Reed Street abutting vacated Reed and Adams Street in the Mountain View Addition of which the City will consider, after a duly noticed public hearing, surplusing 30 x 50 feet to Johnson. In exchange for the requested vacations, Johnson proposes to dedicate an 11.75' wide strip of land along his northwestern property line of lots 1 & 4 of block 25 in Mountain View 2nd Addition. The dedication is adjacent to Chestnut Street that contains a heavily used non- motorized trail that meanders in and out of Chestnut Street and onto the adjacent private property. After this property is dedicated, the non-motorized trail will be entirely contained within the Chestnut Street right-of-way. If approved, the petitioner will complete a lot line adjustment to reflect the street vacations, surplus of Reed Street, and dedication for the Chestnut Street trail. The hearing will be conducted at or about 6:30 PM on Monday,November 15, 2021, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 540 Water Street, Port Townsend, Washington or such other date as the Mayor determines, if necessary, to accommodate other Council business or requests by staff or applicant, so long as the hearing is not less than 20 nor more than 60 days from adoption of the Resolution.
