RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS
WITH THE PORT TOWNSEND SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 50 WITH REGARDS TO THE
POOL RENTAL, AFTER-SCHOOL RECREATION AND SWIMMING INSTRUCTION
PROGRAMS AGREEMENTS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 39.34 the City and the School District have the power to
enter into an inter-agency agreement for the purpose of providing services and facilities in a
cooperative manner so as to best meet the various needs and development of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Parks and Recreation Departments,' public agencies, are charged with the
responsibility to provide an opportunity for leisure time enjoyment for all citizens through park,
recreational, cultural and related activities; and
WHEREAS, the School District owns a swimming pool which is part of the Mountain View
Elementary School facility, the ("Swimming Pool") and the School District desires to offer a Swimming
Instruction Program, ("Swim Program"), for its students at Grant Street and Mountain View schools; and
WHEREAS, an inter-agency agreement allows for and encourages the City and the School
District to work together in planning, developing and implementing a quality and cost-effective
program for the benefit of students and the community,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend authorizes the City Manager to negotiate Inter-Agency Cooperation Agreements for
Pool Rental, After-School Recreation and Swimming Instruction Programs with the Port
Townsend School District.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor on this
