This portion of Reed Street lies in the Mountain View Addition west of Quincy Street and immediately north of the City’s Morgan Hill Reservoir. Under separate action, City Council will consider related requests to vacate portions of Reed and Adams Streets rights-of-way. The surplus would not affect the existing pedestrian trail within the south ten feet of Reed Street. Proposed use: If approved, the City intends to surplus this 30 x 50- foot portion of Reed Street to the abutting property owner to the north, Mr. Larry Johnson, in exchange for a 7 x 444-foot strip of Mr. Johnson’s property along unopened Chestnut Street. The land exchange benefits the public by securing the existing Chestnut Street trail corridor which currently meanders onto private property. The exchange would allow Mr. Johnson flatter area to construct a single-family residence outside of geologically hazardous slopes. Persons wishing to testify may do so either by submitting verbal testimony during the public hearing by joining in person via computer or tablet at http://joinwebinar.com (enter the 9 digit Webinar ID 578-066-435) or by submitting written comments to the City Clerk, City of Port Townsend, 250 Madison Street, Suite 2, Port Townsend, WA 98368.
