RESOLUTION NO. 21-058
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SIGN A CONTRACT FOR THE COMPOST BUILDING REPAIRS
WHEREAS, the Compost Building was damaged and is in need of repair to
continue normal safe operations; and
WHEREAS, the repair will consist of rebuilding a truss, installing a new pole, and
securing lateral bracing; and
WHEREAS,the repairs are in the 2021 budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Council authorized the project for the budget amount of
$35,000 on June 7, 2021; and
WHEREAS,no bids were received through formal advertisement; and
WHEREAS,staff solicited a quotation from a qualified company; and
WHEREAS, City staff is recommending proceeding with the project to avoid the
risk of building failure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend, Washington, as follows:
The City Manager is authorized to sign a contract to repair the Compost Building
with Pacific Environmental Services Company for an amount not to exceed the
bid price of$44,310.76 plus contracting costs.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 4t" day of October 2021.
