MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF MAY 24, 2021
CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Port Townsend City Council and Jefferson County Board of Commissioners met
in special session this 24th day of May 2021, at 6:30 p.m. in the Port Townsend City
Council Chambers of City Hall.
ROLL CALL
Council members present were Pamela Adams, Amy Howard, Monica MickHager,
Owen Rowe, Michelle Sandoval, and Ariel Speser. David Faber was excused.
Commissioners present were Greg Brotherton, Kate Dean, and Heidi Eisenhour.
City Staff present: City Manager John Mauro, Chief of Police Thomas Olson, City
Attorney Heidi Greenwood, and Deputy City Clerk Haylie Clement
County Staff present: Interim County Administrator Mark McCauley, Sheriff Joe Nole,
Undersheriff Andy Pernsteiner, and Prosecuting Attorney James Kennedy
WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS
Commissioner Dean and Mayor Sandoval provided opening remarks.
LAW ENFORCEMENT POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE CHANGES
City Manager John Mauro provided a presentation which reviewed the following
topics to discuss as a group: consistent policy, equipment and body cameras, training,
drug enforcement policy, use of force and measures not adopted. The participants of
the meeting discussed various law enforcement topics and legislative changes.
UPDATES FROM EACH BODY
Jurisdictional updates were provided along with closing remarks.
ADJOURN
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
