RESOLUTION NO. 21-054
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE A SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA YMCA TO
OPERATE THE MOUNTAIN VIEW POOL IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $400,000
PER YEAR
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend re-opened Mountain View Pool following the
COVID-19 public health emergency through a consultation agreement with the Olympic Peninsula
YMCA; and
WHEREAS, the City has significant difficulty staffing, maintaining, and operating the pool
and was forced to shut-down the pool due to insufficient staffing; and
WHEREAS, the Olympic Peninsula YMCA has expertise, trained staff, and the expertise
to operate Mountain View Pool; and
WHEREAS, because of their expertise and staffing resources,the Olympic Peninsula
YMCA can open the Mountain View Pool sooner than would be possible for the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, that the City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute a services
agreement with the Olympic Peninsula YMCA to operate the Mountain View Pool in an amount
not to exceed $400,00 per year and for a period no longer than ending December 31, 2023.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 16th day of August 2021.
