RESOLUTION NO. 21-049
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY, THE
PORT OF PORT TOWNSEND,JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
NO. 1,AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TEAM JEFFERSON
WHEREAS, economic development is a pillar of the City's strategic plan and is
fundamental to sustaining the City's ability to provide services to residents; and
WHEREAS, a resourced, coordinated, proactive, strategic, and effective economic
development office benefits all the local governments and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Economic Development Council Team Jefferson is the Jefferson County's
Associated Economic Development Organization and as such receives funding from the State of
Washington; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, the Jefferson County Public
Utility District No. 1, and the Port of Port Townsend have agreed to support Economic
Development Council Team Jefferson, through financial and policy contributions; and
WHEREAS, Economic Development Council Team Jefferson has agreed to metrics to
measure the success of their economic development services, to amend their bylaws to include
representatives of the City, County, Port and PUD, and to regular communication to each of the
governmental agencies; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized to execute an economic development
interlocal agreement with Jefferson County, the Port of Port Townsend, Jefferson County Public
Utility District No. 1, and Economic Development Council Team Jefferson.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 21" day of June 2021.
