RESOLUTION NO. 21-044
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT
CORONAVIRUS STATE AND LOCAL FISCAL RECOVERY FUNDS
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic devasted many state and local economies; and
WHEREAS, the federal government, as part of the American Rescue Plan Act, awarded
state and local government monies to assist with economic recovery following the pandemic,
including $2.7 million to the City of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, the City must complete the required paperwork by June 18, 2021 in order to
receive the funds; and
WHEREAS, the City may use the funds to 1. respond to the COVID-19 public health
emergency and its economic impacts; 2. provide essential workers premium pay; 3. continue
government services despite revenue loss attributed to the pandemic; or 4. invest in water, sewer,
or broadband infrastructure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized to execute any documents necessary to
accept the American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a special meeting
thereof, held this 14th day of June 2021.
