HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-035 Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Grant Agreement with the Transportation Improvement Board and an Interlocal Agreement with the Jefferson County Public Utilities District for the Replacement of Streetlights Resolution 21-035 RESOLUTION NO. 21-035 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT BOARD AND AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC UTILITIES DISTRICT FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF STREETLIGHTS WHEREAS, the Transportation Improvement Board awarded the City of Port Townsend a $177,460 grant to replace 467 high pressure sodium streetlights with LED lights; and WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Public Utilities District ("PUD") adopted a rate schedule that reduces rates for LED streetlights; and WHEREAS, the new rate will save the City approximately $51,000 a year in addition to reducing energy consumption and light pollution; and WHEREAS, the PUD has the expertise to work near transmission power lines where many streetlights are located; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized to execute a grant agreement for $177,460 with the Transportation Improvement Board and an interlocal agreement with the PUD for the replacement of streetlights with LED fixtures.
