A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, SUNSETTING THE ACTIVE
TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD IN FAVOR OF PROJECT SPECIFIC TASK
FORCES
WHEREAS, on March 19, 2001, the City of Port Townsend adopted Resolution 01-015
providing for a citizen Park and Recreation Advisory Board, and on March 29, 2004, the City of
Port Townsend adopted Resolution 04-014 establishing a citizen advisory Tree Committee; and
WHEREAS, the City combined the two boards into a single Parks, Recreation, and Tree
Advisory Board in Resolution 09-029; and
WHEREAS, the City also has an Active Transportation Advisory Board, formerly
known as the Nonmotorized Transportation Advisory Board, whose mission overlaps with the
Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Council Rules Committee recommended that the Active
Transportation Advisory Board be dissolved in favor of project-specific task forces and that the
Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory Board assume responsibility for trails.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
With gratitude to the members serving on it, the Active Transportation Advisory Board is
hereby sunset and its duties for trails assumed by the Parks, Recreation, Tree, and Trails
Advisory Board.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 7"' day of June 2021.
