RESOLUTION NO. 21-029
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, SUNSETTING THE CITY COUNCIL RULES COMMITTEE UPON
ITS COMPLETION OF THE COUNCIL RULES OF PROCEDURE
WHEREAS, on February 20, 2018, Council created an Ad Hoc Committee on
Committees; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Committee included but was not limited to: 1) review
and make recommendations regarding Council Committee structures, including whether to
have standing committees; 2) review and make recommendations related to existing advisory
boards including purpose and authority of each advisory board; and 3) make
recommendations for annual work plans for advisory boards; and
WHEREAS, the Ad Hoc Committee on Committees was renamed the Rules
Committee and made a standing committee in April 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Committee will continue its work reviewing and making
recommendations regarding Council Committee structures and whether to have standing
committees, reviewing the purpose and authority of each advisory board, ensuring work plans
are in alignment with the City's Strategic Plan, recognizing volunteers, and reviewing the
Council Rules of Procedure; and
WHEREAS, the Committee will finish its work shortly.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Council Rules Committee will sunset and cease meeting upon the
completion of its work to review and update the Council Rules of Procedure. The Rules
Committee will no longer be a standing committee but will be considered an ad hoc
committee.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 7t" day of June 2021.
