RESOLUTION NO. 21-028
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, SUNSETTING THE CITY COUNCIL HOUSING COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, on August 21, 2017, Council created an Ad Hoc Committee on
Housing; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Committee was to review the City's surplus property
for possible housing, update the City's municipal code to support affordable housing, review
affordable housing financing options, review options for public/private partnerships to
develop affordable housing, conduct public outreach regarding affordable housing, and
review the recommendations from the 2006 Housing Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Committee was made a standing committee on April 1,
2019; and
WHEREAS, the City and County created a new joint Housing Task Force and Joint
Oversight Board that works with housing providers and other interested parties to work
regionally on affordable housing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council may task the Planning Commission with many of the
Housing Committee work items.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Council Housing Committee will cease meeting as a standing
committee of the City Council. The City Council may task the Council Infrastructure and
Development Committee or the Planning Commission or create ad hoc committees for specific
housing issues.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 7"' day of June 2021.
