A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN WITH THE PORT TOWNSEND
SWIM TEAM (PTST) A POOL USE AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS,
PTST desires to use the Port Townsend swimming pool facilities, located at
Mountain View Elementary School ("the Pool") each week, for a prescribed
number of hours; and
WHEREAS, the Pool is owned by the Port Townsend School District but is under the control
and management authority of the City; and
WHEREAS,
the City desires to make the Pool available to the PTST, in exchange for a
monthly fee that will ultimately, over several years, reimburse the City for 100%
of the management, coach and lifeguard needs and services required for the PTST
use of the Pool; and
WHEREAS, an increase in the PTST payments to the City will occur in 2000, a start at
moving toward this full payment; and
WHEREAS,
the City may conduct an analysis of the entire Recreation and Pool programs to
assess and consider management and operation options, costs, fees and
opportunities for betterments that may affect how these programs are operated and
organized in the future, including the PTST program; and
WHEREAS,
the parties entered into a Pool Use Agreement dated July 1, 1999, which the
parties wish to terminate in its entirety and replace with a new Agreement based
on re-negotiated terms;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
Be It Resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend to authorize the City Manager
to sign with the Port Townsend Swim Team a Pool Use Agreement in substantially the same
form as attached.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 6th day
of December, 1999.
