RESOLUTION NO. 21-012
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE JEFFERSON COUNTY NOXIOUS WEED
CONTROL BOARD FOR THREE YEARS OF WEED CONTROL EFFORTS
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has partnered with the Jefferson County Noxious
Weed Control Board ("Weed Board") for assistance with controlling noxious weeds on City right-
of-way and City-owned property; and
WHEREAS, the Weed Board will match the City's annual $5000 contribution to the
control of weeds with an additional $5000 annually; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the Weed Board's efforts involve manual weed removal rather
than application of herbicides; and
WHEREAS, the City budgeted $3000 in the Streets fund and $2000 in the Parks fund for
weed removal in 2021;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the City Manager is authorized to execute an interlocal agreement with the
Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control Board for three-years of weed control.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 16th day of February 2021.
