A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE PORT TOWNSEND CHAMBER
OF COMMERCE AND NANCY BORINO TO PROVIDE TOURISM MARKETING
COORDINATOR SERVICES
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS,
on September 15, 1997, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2607,
establishing a "Lodging Tax Advisory Committee" to enable the City to take
advantage of lodging tax authority, as established by the Washington State
Legislature, SSB 5867, Chapter 542, Laws of 1997; and
WHEREAS,
through the 1999 budgetary process, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee
recommended, and the Port Townsend City Council adopted, an appropriation
from the City's lodging tax revenue, for the operation of the Chamber of
Commerce Visitor Information Center and hiring a tourism marketing coordinator
through the Chamber's supervision; and
WHEREAS, on January 19, 1999, the City Council adopted Resolution 99-006, providing
tourism marketing coordinator services for the year 1999; and
WHEREAS,
the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee has reviewed the proposed Agreement
between the City and the Chamber of Commerce and the Consultant, and
recommends Council approval of the 2000 Agreement; and
WHEREAS,
all funding not to exceed $15,000 for services and $5,000 for time and materials,
for the tourism marketing services have been approved and appropriated through
the 2000 budget;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend,
that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the 2000 Agreement for the services of a
tourism marketing coordinator effective for the calendar year 2000.
