HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-010 Authorizing the City Manager to Negotiate and Execute a Swimming Pool Management Contract in an Amount Not to Exceed $35,000 Resolution 21-010 RESOLUTION NO. 21-010 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A SWIMMING POOL MANAGEMENT CONTRACT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,000 WHEREAS, the Port Townsend swimming pool closed in March 2020 and remains closed as part of the City of Port Townsend's efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19; and, WHEREAS, City staff turnover has hindered the ability to reopen the pool in a manner consistent with the Washington State Governor's COVID-19 guidance, because the City is without an Aquatics Program Supervisor and a Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director to supervise pool operations; and, WHEREAS, the City will not be able to recruit and hire an Aquatics Program Supervisor and a Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director for several months; and WHEREAS, without an outside organization to manage pool operations, the City will not be able to open the swimming pool until the City has hired an Aquatics Program Supervisor and a Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director; and WHEREAS, staff has reached out to several organizations that may be able to manage pool operations until the City is able to fill the two positions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the City Manager is authorized negotiate and execute an agreement with another organization to manage swimming pool operations until December 31, 2021, or until the City fills the Aquatics Program Supervisor and the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director, whichever is sooner. The agreement must not exceed $35,000. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this 1St day of February 2021.
