A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE A
TEMPORARY USE LICENSE FOR THE CAROUSEL OF THE OLYMPIC SEA TO BE
LOCATED AT THE POPE MARINE PARK
WHEREAS, the City supports the Port Townsend Carousel Association's efforts to
develop a partnership to introduce the Carousel of the Olympic Sea as a part of the
tourism infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has provided limiting financial criteria to locate and place
the Carousel; and
WHEREAS, the site selection committee listed the following three City owned sites for
consideration: Pope Marine Park, Adams Street Park and Taylor Street at Union Wharf,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
SECTION 1. The City pledges its support for continued efforts to select a public site for
a permanent installation of the Carousel.
SECTION 2. Further, the City Council authorizes the City Manager to provide a
temporary use license for the Carousel to be located at the Pope Marine Park or other
sites under terms to be negotiated.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
