A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A TRANSPORTATION
IMPROVEMENT BOARD (TIB) GRANT AGREEMENT FOR PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY
IMPROVEMENTS ON SAN JUAN AVENUE, F ST TO 19TH AVENUE.
WHEREAS, it has been identified by Staff, Council and Citizen Advisory Groups that additional
improvements to San Juan Avenue walkways are necessary for pedestrian safety; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has limited financial resources with which to upgrade
walkways within the City; and
WHEREAS, the State has established programs for distributing financial aid including the TIB
Pedestrian Safety and Mobility Program (PSMP); and
WHEREAS, the TIB has granted the City a PSMP grant in the amount of $126,000 for
improvements for walkways on San Juan Avenue from F Street to 19th Street; and
WHEREAS, the TIB requires an authorized signature to accept the grant monies with conditions as
described in the grant agreement,
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that it authorizes the City
Manager to sign a grant agreement with the TIB to accept funds for improvements to San Juan
Avenue walkways.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 20th day of
March, 2000. ~
